TechGirls
TechGirls is a distinctive youth enrichment program under CAPA-HC AST, aiming at promoting gender and social equity in STEM, ensuring equal access to academic opportunities beyond classrooms, as well as enhancing the social and emotional health of young girls. It offers after-school STEM workshops and enrichment opportunities with social and emotional development elements to 4th and 5th-grade girls. The program was launched in the 21-22 school year and was successfully run at two schools with 50+ students.
"(The girls) have been given opportunities to stretch their minds… And they often told me how much they enjoy the activities after school. What I really like about the program is how CAPA enlisted older high school students to work with our elementary school students. This is phenomenal. This really gives us a sense of community and a sense of how everyone cares about education…. We are so thrilled to have this program and we look forward to having it for many years to come."
